YOUTH AND CLIMATE CHANGE

Youth flocking at DBYES for screening of short films made by youth from all over the world, Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival screening day. They were looking cheerful and eager to see the film.

The narrator announced the event of the day saying that the films are created by youth from over 133 countries. The theme is Youth and Climate Change.

Scene opened with a lively crowd of young people gathering at DBYES for the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival. Laughter and chatter fill the air as groups exchange excited glances.

The energy at Don Bosco Youth Educational Services was electric. It was the Don Bosco Global Youth Film Festival screening day, and these young people were gathered from all corners to witness something truly inspiring. On screen we saw the hard work, creativity, and vision of young filmmakers from over 133 countries, as they come together to raise awareness on one of the most urgent issues of our time - Climate Change.

The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Youth and Climate Change.’ In each film, these young voices share their hopes, fears, and calls to action for a better planet. And it is more than just a screening; it is a celebration. After the jury’s decision, awards will be given for the best films from each of the festival’s seven regional groups: South Asia; East Asia & Oceania; Africa Madagascar; Inter America; America South Cone; Northern & Central Europe; and Europe & Middle East. These regions represent the diversity, resilience, and collective spirit of young people across the globe.

After viewing the films, the participants said they felt inspired by what they had just watched. They explained that hearing stories from places they had never been, told by people their age, made them feel connected in the fight against climate change. They said climate change was not just a local problem but something happening everywhere. They mentioned that each film had a unique message, but the urgency of the issue stood out the most. They admired the creativity and passion of the young filmmakers. The speakers added that the storytelling was beautiful and that they learned a lot from people in other parts of the world. They said they felt motivated to take action in their own community and make a difference like the filmmakers had done.

As the day come to a close, one thing is clear; the voices of youth are powerful, and their vision is compelling. Through these films, they reminded us that a shared purpose unites us all: to protect our planet for the generations to come. This festival is a testament to their dedication, passion, and hope. Together, they are calling for a brighter, greener, and more sustainable future.
