Dreams in Focus: The BEAMS Graduation Story

Title: “Dreams in Focus: The BEAMS Graduation Story”
Duration: 3:26 minutes
Tone: Inspirational, hopeful, emotional
Sound cues included

[Ambient sound: Light morning ambience, birds chirping, distant city sounds]

Narrator (calm, warm tone):
On the afternoon of June 18th, 2025, a quiet corner of Karen was filled with celebration. At the BEAMS Media Training Centre, 36 young men and women, aged between 18 and 25, took a bold step into a brighter future.

[Sound cue: Soft background music begins, inspirational piano and strings]

Narrator:
For many of these youth, the road here has been anything but easy. Coming from some of the most underprivileged communities in Kenya, they have had to battle not only poverty, but a system that often overlooks their potential.

[Ambient sound: Applause and cheering from a graduation ceremony]

Narrator:
But thanks to the efforts of BEAMS Media Centre, and the generous support of both local and international sponsors, WeWOT, Creative Resilience International and great support from Girl Code, Vision for Change, Ignite for Intent and Sonie in Action, today, they graduate. Not just with certificates, but with real, employable skills in:

  • Videography and Film Production,
  • Photography,
  • Graphic Design,
  • Music Production and Sound Engineering,
  • And 3D Design and Printing.

[Sound cue: Fade in sound of a camera shutter, then studio sound mixing]

Narrator:
These are not just technical skills — they are tools for self-expression, income generation, and empowerment.

[Insert voice clip: Trainer or graduate speaking proudly]

Graduate (clip):
“Before BEAMS, I had never even touched a real camera. Now,  I am planning to start my own channel.”

[Sound cue: Fade in faint environmental sound, wind in trees, kids playing]

Narrator:
But BEAMS does more than teach media skills. The programme also trains these young people in environmental responsibility and climate awareness, essential in today’s changing world.

[Insert voice clip: Environmental trainer or graduate voice, enthusiastic]

Trainer (clip):
“We want them to become storytellers and stewards of the planet. That is why we plant trees, clean rivers, and teach how climate change affects our communities.”

Narrator:
From waste recycling to reforestation efforts, these students learn to care, not only for themselves, but for the earth.

[Sound cue: Switch to classroom sound, students laughing, teacher instructing]

Narrator:
And they are taught more than creative skills. Life skills training, conflict resolution, communication, emotional resilience, are also part of the BEAMS curriculum. Tools not just for surviving, but thriving.

Graduate (clip):
“BEAMS did not just teach me design. It helped me believe in myself. I can now speak in public, manage my time, and dream bigger.”

[Ambient music swells slightly, emotional crescendo]

Narrator:
As these 36 graduates step out into the world, they carry more than a certificate. They carry hope, not just for themselves, but for a generation that dares to dream beyond limitation.

[Sound cue: Applause fades into the background, gentle uplifting music continues]

Narrator (softly):
This is what happens when opportunity meets potential. This… is BEAMS. I am your host, Isaac Kirigwi.

[Outro music fades slowly, credits roll music tone]
